Physiotherapists & MSK Sonographers

Frequentley Asked Questions

What should I expect during my initial consultation?

Your physiotherapist will take a full medical history, bringing a list of your current medications can be helpful.  Your physiotherapists will discuss your symptoms and how they relate to your usual activities as well as your rehabilitation goals. A physical examination +/- an ultrasound scan will follow to establish a diagnosis and potential cause of the problem.  Following the assessment your physiotherapist will discuss the findings of the assessment and formulate your personal treatment plan. We aim to commence treatment straight away.

How many sessions will I need?

This will vary depending on the condition.  However, it should be possible to give an indication of how many sessions you will need after the initial examination.

What do I need to bring with me?

Your physiotherapist will want to see you move so comfortable clothing is advised. We recommend vest tops for shoulder/neck pain and shorts/leggings/skirts for lower limb problems. We recommend you bring your training shoes if you are attending with a sporting lower limb problem. You are more than welcome to bring a friend or relative, however if you have small children we recommend leaving them with a carer to maximise your treatment time. If you are taking medication please bring a list for your records.

Is there any where to park?

Yes we have ample free on-site parking

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No, a referral is not necessary if you are funding your treatment yourself. If you have private healthcare insurance please check in advance with them as individual companies vary. We are affiliated with most major companies including BUPA, AXA, Aviva, WPA & Simply Health.

Do you do physiotherapy for children?

Clients under 16 must have their appointment booked by a parent/guardian and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at each appointment. Acceptance of children is completed on a case by case basis depending on the presentation.

What if I need to cancel?

In order to manage patient care more effectively we would appreciate 24 hours notice for any cancellations. Repeated cancellation at short notice or failures to attend may result in a fee being charged.

What are your payment terms?

Payment is made after each consultation either by cash or card. If authorisation has been gained from an insurer/solicitor/case manager we can invoice them directly for your treatment, however in the event of non-payment you would become liable.
